(Sermon for 7/31/2022 - Clint Perkins)
Sermon Notes:
David was so insensitive to sin, he was not aware Nathan was talking about him. 2 Samuel 12:5-7
Why was David so insensitive and not aware he was in sin?
1. Because he abandoned his purpose and wasn't where he was supposed to be. 1 Samuel 11:1
2. He focused on his own desires. 1 Samuel 11:3
3. He did not turn away from temptation. 1 Samuel 11:4
4. He deliberately sinned. 1 Samuel 11:4
5. He tried to cover up his sin by deceiving others. 1 Samuel 11:6-15
6. He committed murder to cover up his sin. 1 Samuel 11:15, 17
-Bathsheba was wrong also. She could have rejected David.
-When we are in sin (backsliding), it is very difficult to hear God's voice.
Today’s takeaway, two questions
1. What sin is hindering me from hearing what God has to say to me? Deal with that sin BIBLICALLY and move on.
2. What am I criticizing in others, that I am guilty of doing the same thing? Deal with it BIBLICALLY and move on.
