The parable of the lost sheep is a beautiful illustration of how much God loves each of us. In this sermon, Pastor Chad covers:
1. (Matthew 18:10) God’s love for us through the appointment and access of angels to continually see the face of God on our behalf.
2. (Matthew 18:11) God’s love for us through the mission of His Son to seek and save us whom were lost.
3. (Matthew 18:12) God’s love for us through His pursuit of us like a shepherd looking for a lost sheep - even in our worst failures, sins, and struggles.
4. (Matthew 18:13) God’s love is revealed in His own rejoicing over us when He finds us and returns us to Himself through repentance.
5. (Matthew 18:14) God’s love is reassures us that it is not His will/desire to send anyone to Hell (punish without offering mercy & grace).
Thus, Matthew 18:12 asks, What do you think (about how much God cares and protects, seeks & saves, searches & finds, and rejoices & wills none to perish)? Luke 15 also relates this parable and shows that God cares about sinners so much that He (3 Ls)
1. Leaves, goes after, searches till he finds us.
2. Lifts us up and lays us on his shoulder/rejoicing.
3. Loves us – that at home (in heaven) He calls angels together to “rejoice with me” so that there is "more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents."
