In the time following the great revival of Hezekiah, the nation was where it needed to be in the spiritual sense, but there was a looming threat coming from Assyria. They had already taken Israel in the north and numerous other nations besides. Nobody could withstand them in the world at that time and all nations knew it.

As Assyria turned its sights on Judah and Jerusalem there is no reason that Judah would be any more difficult than the other nations and they knew it. The openly taunted Hezekiah and God's people in Judah, even to the gates of Jerusalem. The one thing they did not realize is Hezekiah and the nation were once again under the watchful eye of God and were serving Him.

This is all we need to know about the outcome, but it is a good reminder of where our attention should be as were face trouble of whatever kind and that we should at all times be found in Him. He is not only a loving father, but a fierce defender of those who put their trust in Him.
