In Matthew 7:23 Jesus said people would say Lord Lord look at what we did in your name, we cast our demons in your name, we prophesied in your name, we did many miracles in your name, and Jesus said to them depart from Me I never knew you. These are questions that have answers about what does the Bible teach about Once Saved Always Saved OSAS.

Christians have been debating for many years on the doctrine of salvation for years on can a Christian lose their salvation, are Christians eternally secure in Christ Jesus, are Christians once saved always saved, or can a born again Christian lose their salvation. The Bible teaches that a genuine born again Christian cannot lose their salvation, and that they are eternally secure in Christ Jesus based upon grace through faith in Jesus' finished work through His death and resurrection (Ephesians 2:8-9). The Scriptures teach that Jesus and the Father keep those who are believers (born again, sheep), and give them eternal life (John 10:28-29). Salvation is not based upon works but upon grace through faith in the promise of eternal life through Jesus and the Father (John 10:28-29). Jesus calls Christians His sheep in John 10:28-29 and says they have eternal life, kept by the Father and the Son (Jesus).

The Bible teaches in Philippians 1:6 that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. What does He who began a good work in you will complete it mean? Philippians 1:6 teaches that salvation began in Christ Jesus and will continue on to the day of Christ Jesus, which means that the Scriptures affirm eternal security. Therefore salvation is based upon grace through faith in the Lord Jesus and not upon a person's efforts or works (Ephesians 2:8-9). The Bible also teaches Christians are sealed with the Holy Spirit, born again, eternally saved (Ephesians 1:13-14). When a Christian is sealed with the Holy Spirit they have the promise of God for salvation, eternal life (Romans 8:35-39, Ephesians 1:13-14).

What Does I Never Knew You Mean in Matthew 7:23? What did Jesus Mean? What is the context of Matthew 7:23?In Matthew 7:23 Jesus said depart from Me I never knew you, which means that a genuine born again believer (Christian) in Christ Jesus will not lose their salvation. The context of Matthew 7:23 teaches eternal security, once saved always saved, when properly understood in its context. Jesus said I never knew you, never means never, it is just that simple. Jesus did not say I used to know you 10 years ago and now I don't, but He did say I never knew you. I never knew you means I never knew you, it is just that simple. The context of the Bible proves Christians cannot lose their salvation.

Jesus said be careful of false prophets who come in sheep clothing but are wolves inside (Matthew 7:15). There are many false prophets who are teaching false gospels, doctrines and teachings, and this what Jesus warned about in Matthew 7:15 through Matthew 7:27. Jesus said in Matthew 7:24-27 that you are either built upon the foundation of the Rock (Jesus) or you your foundation is built upon sand. Those who claimed to be of the Lord in Matthew 7:21-23 were not built upon Jesus, but upon a false foundation. Paul warned of false prophets and apostles teaching false doctrines leading people astray (Acts 20:29-31, 2 Corinthians 11:13-15), and those preaching a different gospel (Galatians 1:6-9).

The gospel of Jesus Christ is that when someone truly trusts in Him they are eternally saved by grace through faith, not of works, and they are forever in the Lord. Therefore genuine Christians cannot lose their salvation, and once saved always saved is true if they are truly born again.
