This is the first in a series of Bible Studies by Pastor Scott (First Baptist Church of Los Angeles, CA) on Isaiah 62-66. This latter part of Isaiah was focused upon how Israel would be a blessing, a light, to the nations. This part of Isaiah is speaking to an exiled community who were discovering that God was far bigger than their culture or assumptions. God's word is of preparing the people for their covenant to be extended to the nations of earth. God will bring about a New Jerusalem while they wait and watch for His coming fulfillment. Meanwhile, they are to prepare in speaking up and sharing the good news of God's Kingdom, His grace for redemption now, and His glory that shall be revealed.
The connection to Revelation 21, the New Jerusalem to come down out of Heaven from God is made by Pastor Scott. We may find God's help to watch by doing the will and works of God in our time. We are invited now to become heirs of the Covenant of Grace through faith in Jesus Christ. In the midst of troubles, trials, and tribulations (ex. Coronavirus), we are to endure with hope in God's Kingdom plan. The coming of Christ will be for the redemption of Israel (the faithful) and the the Nations (the faithful Church).
Pastor Scott makes a connection to how we long for, hunger for, the Kingdom of God.
