Judgment of Shallum explained to Zedekiah, hoping that he would be warned of them and repent.

Following the death of godly Josiah, the last four kings of Judah (Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin, Zedekiah), did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord. This chapter reviews the history of the three preceding reigns of Zedekiah, and apparently reproduces the very words of the warnings which he had uttered to each king who then ruled, and by detailing their disobedience that brought judgment on the nation and reason for the Lord to remove the sons of David from the throne.
In this chapter we have the following:
1. God sends the prophet to court with promises calling to repentance (1-4)
2. Heavy sentences of judgment are pronounced upon the king’s house and Jerusalem,
a. Judgment against the king’s house (5-9)
b. The judgment of Shallum (10-12)
c. The judgment of Jehoiakim (13-19)
d. The judgment of Jehoiachin @ Coniah (20-30)
