Jesus knew the nation of Israel’s rejection of Him was complete. But, Jesus was relentless in exposing sin. The disciples, like most all of us, did not want to see or hear anymore so they tried to divert Jesus attention and focus on the outward beauty and “success,” of the temple complex, cf. 21:5. But Jesus wanted them to stay on target; the Kingdom of God. This they needed to do even though hard times were coming for the nation and believers in particular, 21:16-17. Jesus had revealed that right before He comes back there is going to be overwhelming, catastrophic “volcanoes,” of the sky; sun, moon and stars! see v. 25. In
Luke 21:29-38 we find that: Believers are to live by Jesus’ divine words about the future.
