Jesus said when you do good deeds, yoo give to the needy, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. DON'T CALL ATTENTION TO YOURSELF. Why? It's about your motivation. What is yours? Check out this Bible Study on Matthew 6:1-4.

Small Group Questions

In what other ways do you think God is subtle, meaning not drawing attention to Himself?

Do you ever see someone who does lots of things for people in order to gain attention? How does that make you feel? What if you're on the receiving end of that action, how would you feel?

Can you name some other reasons that Jesus might want us to do our good deeds in secret?

In our social media saturated culture, we have a tendency to post up everything we do. Is this a good thing, a bad thing, or just a thing?

What do you think of Perpetua's response to her father? What would you have done? We can say we would be brave, but think of the kind of pressure you would be under awaiting execution and never getting to raise your baby. Do you think you would have Perpetua's faith?

Question of the Day

What can you do for somebody that is meaningful but doesn't draw attention to yourself?
