One of the difficulties in learning the English language is understanding the large number of idioms we use in our daily conversations. An idiom is "a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words." The expression, "It's raining cats and dogs!" is a common example of an idiom describing a torrential downpour. "He walks on water," is another example of an idiom often describing someone who can seemingly do the impossible. The difference between the two is that the latter example has its roots in the Bible. Just after Jesus did the impossible by feeding the five thousand with five loaves and two fish, He again demonstrated the impossible to His disciples when He met them at night in the middle of the stormy Sea of Galilee...walking on water!! Join Kevin Patterson of Sebring, Florida, and the Sebring Parkway church of Christ as they continue their study of the fourth book of the New Testament and examine this miraculous event in a lesson from John 6:15-24 entitled, "Jesus Walks on the Sea of Galilee."
