Matthew 25 is an interesting passage to read along with Job 31. In New Testament teaching one receives God's grace in Christ through faith alone in the redemption through the divine sacrifice of Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9), and then the works of Matthew 25 follow, showing the results of having received salvation through faith alone. Faith alone in Christ saves a person, but works show that one has genuine or saving faith(Ephesians 2:`10). With this, Romans and James fit together. If one has true faith in Christ, the fruit of that saving faith will follow in a life that bears the fruit of saving faith. If there is fire in the fireplace, there will be smoke coming out of the chimney.
