John wrote his gospel so that we might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and in believing we might have eternal life.

God does not force us to believe in Jesus. He simply presents the evidence and then leaves it up to us to either believe it or not.

But we still need to realize that this is not a trivial curiosity. Our choice to believe it or not is a matter of salvation.

We also need to realize that not all faith is saving faith.
James 2:14 says, “What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?”

What does it mean to have saving faith?

This is a sermon based on John 12:37-50. I preached this message at the Minnehaha Church of Christ in Vancouver, Washington on Sunday, June 4, 2017.
