Ibzan, the ninth deliverer (12:8–10)

My immediate devotional response to reading: His whole ministry took place in his hometown and did not involve military action. His whole paragraph is about his children and their marriages, so a family man. So often we think about moving away toward ministry, Ibzan stayed home and served as a deliverer and savior to his people.

Jephthah dies, and Ibzan becomes Israel’s judge for seven years. He has 30 sons and 30 daughters. Ibzan from Bethlehem must be a Judean from the hometown of David and birthplace of Jesus.
