In this sermon we will look at a simple outline of Mark 6:14-29 that gives a flashback/explanation of how John the Baptist died.

I. Jesus’ Growing FAME (Mark 6:14-16).
II. Herod’s Ongoing SHAME (Mark 6:17-28).
III. John’s Disciple’s PAIN (Mark 6:29).

The sermon concludes with 5 life lessons we can learn from John the Baptist's difficult and yet blessed life:

1. This Life is Short (James 4:13-15).
2. This Life is Difficult (John 16:32-33).
3. This Life is Lonely (Hebrews 13:5-6).
4. This Life is Disappointing (Hebrews 11:13-16).
5. This Life is a Test (Romans 8:11-25).

Conclusions: This life is the proving ground of those who know, love, serve, and worship Christ. * We need to get our expectations right/balanced that we will never be completely satisfied, content, or fully at peace until we are with Jesus and in His Kingdom. * We need to get ready and prepare for the likelihood that we could face greater difficulty, persecution, and even death in completing our mission/the great Commission for our Lord (1 Peter 4:12-19).
