Today’s Verse: Philemon 1:15–16 (NKJV)
“For perhaps he departed for a while for this purpose, that you might receive him forever, no longer as a slave but more than a slave; a beloved brother, especially to me but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.”
Onesimus thought he was running toward freedom when he fled Philemon; instead, he ran straight into the grace of God. Through Paul’s ministry, he became a new man in Christ, and the relationship that had been broken by fear and failure was now the very place God wanted to showcase redemption. Paul stands in the middle, interceding for reconciliation, asking Philemon to receive this former slave not as property but as family. What began as rebellion became an opportunity for God to write a better story than anyone expected.
So today, ask the Lord where He is inviting you into that same kind of reconciliation. It may be a wounded marriage, a prodigal child, a wayward parent, a fractured friendship, or your own heart that has grown cold, critical, or distant from Jesus. Before you walk away or give up, pray for the courage to humble yourself, to repent where needed, and to exhaust every effort toward peace and restoration.
