Love and judgment don't seem like they would go together. However, in the last public sermon Jesus preaches you'll find both. Love is what we all want. But do we ever really get the kind of love we need? The moment you say, "I love you because you don't…or because you do…or because you have…" is the moment that your love is conditioned upon what you receive from the one whom you say you love. This is what sets God's love apart - He loves for love's sake. He loves because He is love. So what does judgment have to do with this? For many, a God who judges is unwanted. It shouldn't be this way. You see God is a loving judge. Where do you take your rage, bitterness, anger and malicious intentions toward those who have hurt you? Does it help you to be told, "God does not judge, neither should you. Just forget about it." That is not Biblical. Knowing that God is the loving judge who declares, "Vengeance is mine. I will repay," gives you peace. How does this give you peace? It is the thing that allows you to lay your weapon down. God's got this and when he handles it, it will be done in perfect measure. So take comfort my friends, in the love and judgment of God.
