Dr. Heiser discusses Satan and how it was not a proper name in the Old Testament. It was simply meant "the accuser".

That changed during the Second Temple period and then into the New Testament.

In Luke 10:18, Jesus refers to the divine being in Genesis 3 as Satan. Jesus is saying that the Kingdom of God is here and has deposed the rule of the earth and conquered the Lord of the dead, Satan.

The Church of Jesus is now advancing the Kingdom of God that Jesus inaugurated when he was on earth. Jesus defeated the enemy on the cross and then resurrected on the third day.

Satan has fallen like lightning and will never get back up. The devil is defeated forever.
