Advent 2020 Series — “What We All Should Want for Christmas”
Luke 1:5-25
“In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.”
1. What is killing your hope these days? Be honest.
2. God is always preparing us for something. Name some things that you think God has been preparing you for in life.
3. What does Advent mean? Why is it important?
4. The story of Zechariah and Elizabeth is an important one in relation to the Christmas story. Why?

5. What do these prophecies say about our story and the significance of the coming baby boy John?
6. What happened to Zechariah because of his lack of faith in the Angel’s message?
7. Is there anything that you had been praying for in your own life that you’ve given up praying for? What will it take to keep the faith in this area of your life?
8. We lose hope when we lose connection. Why?
9. We lose hope when we feel defeated. Why? Give examples.
10. We lose hope when we stop seeking the truth or neglect God’s Word. Why?
11. God is not hiding or keeping hope from us. Why is this important for us to know?
