March 22, 2020 Sermon: Boldness (Luke 11:5-13)
Message by Interim Pastor Luke Johnson from our Prayer sermon series
Discussion Questions
***Whoever leads the discussion, it is always a good idea immediately following the message to ask those with you how the Word of God spoke to them as they listened. Address those thoughts before going into the discussion questions below.
1. What is the boldest request you have ever asked of anyone? What caused you make such a request? Why do we not pray boldly?
2. What physical needs in others’ lives have you noticed lately? What spiritual needs in others’ lives have you observed? What prevents us from observing the needs of others? When was the last time a need came in front of you as in Luke 11:5?
3. In verse 8, why does the neighbor eventually get up and give bread to the one asking? What does this teach us about prayer and how Jesus teaches us to pray?
4. What is the difference in asking, seeking, and knocking? Why the progression of these three verbs? What is the unique aspect of knocking in respect to waiting upon the Lord?
5. How do the promises of God move us to pray boldly? How is the Holy Spirit the ultimate gift that God can give us? What do you need to be praying boldly about?
