Mark 1:1-20
VERSE OF THE DAY: And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."—Mark 1:11
The Book of Mark—assuming the reader has understood the immaculate conception of Jesus and his early childhood—begins abruptly with John the Baptist, Jesus' baptism, and His temptation in the wilderness. In this passage, we focus today on Jesus' baptism and His Father's booming, exuberant response in Mark 1:11 when Jesus obeys Him!
REFLECTION: Listen to the Right Voice
So many voices compete for our attention. So many voices want to tell you who you are. So many opinions exist about you, your life, and your purpose. Only one voice speaks from heaven's throne. If the voice you're hearing is not calling you "beloved," it's not God's voice. God says, "You are mine, and I love you."
Q's: Think about the voices you are listening to. Who do they say you are? Do they bring out the best in you? We will become like the ones we listen to. Consider the SOURCE.
