Mark 9:30-50
VERSE OF THE DAY: "Do not stop him," Jesus said. "For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me."—Mark 9:39
Jesus reminds his disciples again of his death and resurrection, and still the disciples argued with each other about who's the greatest ("Muhammad Ali!"), lol! And Jesus reigns it in, as usual. One key verse is 41 and easily speaks to our people who serve diligently without being noticed. God always notices everything and rewards those who belong to Christ. Jesus turns the conversation to temptation to sin and talks about saltiness losing its flavor.
REFLECTION: Work Reveals Intent
• Someone who works in their own name is building their own kingdom.
• Someone who works in Jesus’ name is building THE Kingdom.
• Be someone intent on advancing THE Kingdom.
• Examine your heart to find WHY you do what you do.
Q's: What does your work reveal about you? How can you demonstrate a desire to build the Kingdom instead of your own kingdom?
Possible questions: How does sin cause you to lose your saltiness? What is Jesus asking you to release to Him, whether a sin issue or bitterness, selfishness or envy, so that you can be purely salt and light?
