Matt 4:3b-6

Consider this:

Matt 14:15-21 Five loaves, two fish fed 5000 plus women and children

Matt 15:32-38 Seven loaves, a few fish. Fed 4000 plus women and children

Matt 16:9-10 Reminder of these two events

Matt 6:25-34 take no thought for the morrow what ye shall eat

Luke 12:29-31 Seek not what ye shall eat

Why is he doing all this?

Rev 13:17 That no man might buy or sell save he that hath the mark

*The reason Jesus is consistently showing the nation of Israel that he can, and will sustain them supernaturally is because there is coming a day in which they will have to trust that he will provide these things or else they will take the mark and end up worshiping the Antichrist

*4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but buy every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

Quote from: Duet 8:3 Fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know that he might make thee to know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live

Prov 30:5 Every word of God is pure

Ps 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning

Do you have all the Words?

*Missing verses from modern Versions:

Matt 18:11, 17:21, 23:14, Mk 7:16, 9:44, 46, 11:26, 15:28, Lk 17:36, John 5:3-4, Acts 8:37, 15:34, 28:29 Rom 16:24

*If not completely omitted check the footnote to see if your version takes the stance of Satan in causing you to question whether it should really be in there.... “Yea hath God said?” Genesis 3:1

Job 23:12 I have esteemed the words of thy mouth more than my necessary food

John 14:23 If a man love me he will keep my words

Matt 4:4 Man doth not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God

*4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city & setteth him on the pinnacle of the temple

Detail: Holy City

Luke 4:9 and he brought him to Jerusalem (Holy City)

Neh 11:1 Jerusalem = Holy City

*4:6 Cast thyself down from hence (for it is written) he shall give his angels charge concerning thee. What’s missing?

Luke 4:9-10 Charge over thee to keep thee – what's missing?

Where was it written?

Ps 91:11-12 “in all thy ways”

John 8:29 The Father hath not left me alone for I do always those things that please him

By omitting “in all thy ways” (4 words) what he said is no longer a true statement

2 Cor 2:17 For we are not as many which corrupt the word of God

2 Cor 4:2 Handling the word of God deceitfully

*When is the proper timing for this event?

“Cast thyself down from hence” High in the sky down to earth

Acts 1:11 This same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven

Acts 1:9 A cloud received him out of their sight

Matt 26:64 Sitting on the right hand of power and coming in the clouds of heaven

Mark 13:26 Son of man coming in the clouds with power and great glory

High place (right hand of God) to the ground – when? After he was seated

Matt 26:64 Hereafter ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power and coming in the clouds of heaven

Sitting

Heb 10:12 But this man after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down at the right hand of God

TIMELINE

1 Cross 2 Seated 3 Coming

Luke 4:6 and in their hands, they shall bear the up [lest at any time (makes Ps 91:11-12 unconditional)] thou dash thy foot against a stone

When this event actually happens

Comes down from a high place and lands on the ground... This is what follows

Ps 91:12-13 Thou shalt tread upon the Lion...Dragon underfoot

Rev 12:9 The great dragon that old serpent

Gen 3:15 He (the seed of the woman) shall bruise thy head ( the serpent’s )

*So by telling Jesus to do this he is trying to get Jesus to come in the clouds of heaven before he has been offered for sins and has sat down at the right hand of God

One day he will come in the clouds but not out of order

So his response = Matt 4:7 “It is written” thou shalt not tempt the Lord your God

While we are here:

How have people tempted God?

Ex 17:1-3 Not content with present circumstances, Doubted God’s ability to provide

Num 21:5-6 In content = tempting God

Num 14:22 Tempted me these 10 times

*Solution for us

Heb 13:5 Be content with such things as ye have

1 Tim 6:8 With food and raiment let us therewith be content

*4:8 Again the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them and saith unto him all these things will I give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Luke 4:5-6 Shewed him all the kingdoms of the world (in a moment of time) and the devil said unto him all this power will I give thee and the glory of them (for that is delivered unto me and to whomever I will, I give it

The devil is:

The God of this world – 2 Cor 4:4
