We are all recovering hypocrites, intentionally or unintentionally. That ought to humble us, make us reluctant to judge others (Matt. 7:1-5), and make us examine our hearts and our motives. Hypocrisy is like Yeast. It works gradually, almost invisibly, slowly spreading through the entire dough. It is not easy for us to identify it or to resist it. In fact this hypocrisy offers (false) comfort, (false) assurance, (false) confidence, (false) authority, and (false) belonging. Yeast is a single cell living organism in the fungus kingdom. Jesus is warning his Church of A little hypocrisy in the local church that is contagious. Groups can often build their identity on something hypocritical. Things like “bitterness, anger, fear, and even a victim mentality” are all forms of yeast that can spread through a batch of people. Disconnection, division, and discontent are all evidence of spreading hypocrisy. To hear more, click on the video.
