What is Contrition Counseling?

Contrition Counseling provides Bible-based counseling services, and resources in our local mission field of Grayson County, Texas. We desire to see healing in individuals and relationships by first accepting Christ.

What is Contrition?

Contrition
1. Sincere remorse for wrongdoing; repentance.
2. Brokenness of spirit for having given offense; deep sorrow for sin; sincere penitence.

A central concept in much of Christianity, contrition is regarded as the first step, through Christ, towards reconciliation with God. Contrition is present when a human spirit stops justifying its wrong choices. A contrite heart offers no excuses and shifts no blame. It fully agrees with God about how wicked it is. Knowing that it deserves nothing but righteous wrath, a contrite heart throws itself upon the mercy of God (Isaiah 66:2; Psalm 41:4; Psalm 51:17).
