Jesus said, “In the world you shall have tribulations“ John 16:33. What’s encouraging in this scripture is the fact that He overcomes the world so that we can have peace. He knows they want to ask the meaning, so He explains. He was referring to his crucifixion and resurrection. This was going to be a difficult time for the disciples they were going to experience sorrow, grief and even weep, but it would be temporary.

Jesus uses the example of a woman experiencing the pains of labor and how she endures it and afterwords there is so much joy because the baby comes into the world.

Jesus finishes his teaching session with his disciples by promising them both suffering and joy. We must understand and comprehend that Jesus has overcome the world that causes our suffering and we must remain faithful to Him.
