In this final chapter Paul says some things to the Philippians that only those there would understand. There may have been some division between two people mentioned, but little else is known. Paul could not have known we would be reading this letter all these years later, so those details are missing and are not needed for us.

What he tackles in the next section is of monumental importance to all churches, through all ages. What can be done for the anxiousness that is part of the human experience? How should a troubled, anxious heart be calmed and brought to peace? This is answered by Paul beginning at verse 4. It is not complicated to understand, and the principles are quite easy to grasp. Doing what he explains is where this passage can become difficult, but it is worth the pursuit.

Paul concludes this epistle by expressing his gratitude to the church for their support and concern for him. This was a different world they lived in, and it is sometimes difficult to imagine keeping in communication with someone, given the almost impossible task to keep tabs on someone without technology. Yet, those in Philippi were quite invested in Paul's ministry, and he in their wellbeing.

This has been a wonderful study in how a person can embrace God's will for their lives and also how a person may humbly look to the God who loves them and made a way back to Him.
