We begin this broadcast by reiterating the fact that Jesus is talking about the signs that occur during the 7 year tribulation period. The signs here are not signs that happen during the church age, contrary to many popular teachings. When Jesus mentions "these things" He uses a common phrase found in the Olivet discourse. It is a technical term for events associated with the parousia. These are things that happen during Daniel's 70th week. Jesus mentions "right at the door" which is terminology used in the Bible for the Judge for imminent judgment. We also explain why the events of 70 AD when Rome destroyed the temple did not involve the antichrist setting himself up in the temple demanding worship. We also explain how Matthew uses the phrase "this generation" to denote the moral quality of people who reject God's purposes in Christ and not a 40 year time period. CIC Issue 77 explains this terminology and provides substantial, biblical evidence for our interpretation of it. We show how the Jews believed in corporate solidarity which spans many centuries.
