As we begin to deal with Jesus' answer to the disciples' first question, which regarded "when," we point out that "these things" are the events of the tribulation period. Matthew 24:17 speaks of the "days of Noah." Pastor Eric explains how the parousia is a complex event and shows this from Jesus' use of the phrase "the days of Noah." The time before Noah entered the ark, and the flood came were characterized by ordinary life. Jesus' point is that therefore the parousia will be unexpected just as the flood was. The only warning that people in Noah's day had was his preaching. By analogy, the only warning people have in our day is the preaching of the gospel. Eric references material in Isaiah 26:18-21 that predicts future wrath and the hiding of believers from that wrath. We also discuss the concept of "storing up" wrath as Paul mentions it in Romans. The delay in the pouring out of God's wrath does not imply that it will not happen; it most certainly will.
