Join me live for our next Text Reading, which will include Psalm 10:2-3, 11:4-7, 15:1-5 according to the Hebrew (H) and Greek (G) texts. Here is my translation of these texts which we will read and discuss:

Chapter 10 (Hebrew)
(H) 2 With arrogant joy a wicked person will chase down a poor person [or, "a weak person"]. Yet, wicked people will be trapped by their own intentions.
(H) 3 Because a wicked person has praised the very desire of his soul, and he has praised the one stealing while at the same time he has cursed Jaho(h)-ah.

Chapter 10(9) (Greek)
(G) 2[23] The one who is poor [or, "weak"] is made to feel great pressure while the wicked continues to act arrogantly, becoming full of themselves during debates which they argue about.
(G) 3[24] For the sinner gives praise according to the desires [or, "intentions"] of his own soul [or, "life"], and he blesses the one who does what is wrong.

Chapter 11 (Hebrew)
(H) 4 Jaho(h)-ah is in a temple devoted to his sacredness; Jaho(h)-ah, among the sky heavens is his throne. His eyes will see; the surface of his eyes will closely evaluate the sons of Adam.
(H) 5 Jaho(h)-ah will closely evaluate a righteous person, but his soul hates a wicked person and a person who loves violence [or, “but a criminal, even the one who is a lover of violence, has hated his own soul”].
(H) 6 Jaho(h)-ah sends down terrible traps upon wicked people as he sends down rain, fire and sulfur and a wind full of great heat. That is the portion given in the cup of wicked people.
(H) 7 Because Jaho(h)-ah is righteous. He has loved righteousness. Those who are approved by him will see his face [or, “His face will look upon [plurals of majesty] what is right”].

Chapter 11[10] (Greek)
(G) 4 Lord [Jaho(h)-ah is in his holy temple. Lord [Jaho(h)-ah], in heaven is his throne. His eyes closely observe those in need [or, "the poor"]; the surface of his eyes carefully searches the sons of mankind.
(G) 5 Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] carefully watches the righteous one and the wicked one; the one loving unrighteousness hates his own soul [compare the alternate reading of (H) 11:5].
(G) 6 [Jaho(h)-ah] will rain down deadly traps upon those who continue to do what is wrong: Fire, burning stone, and wind from a terrible storm is the part belonging to their cup.
(G) 7 Because Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] is righteous and he loves acts of righteousness. His face looks upon righteousness.

Chapter 15 (Hebrew)
(H) 1 A song belonging to David: "Jaho(h)-ah, who will visit in your tent? Who will live in a mountain set apart for you?
(H) 2 The one who walks around without fault; the one who brings about righteousness; and the one who speaks truth in his heart [or, ‘the one who is true to himself’];
(H) 3 He that does not have slander on his tongue; he that has not caused an evil injury to his friend; and he that has not lifted up something disgraceful against the one near him [or, ‘against his neighbor’].
(H) 4 This one rejects the thing hated by his eyes, and the ones fearing Jaho(h)-ah he will honor; he has given an oath when it comes to being evil, namely, he will not change.
(H) 5 This one also has not given out his money with interest, and a bribe against an innocent party he has not taken. The one who acts in these ways will not ever be shaken [or, ‘made to tremble’].”

Chapter 15 (Greek)
(G) 1 A song belonging to David: "Lord [Jaho(h)-ah], who will live as a guest in your tent, and who will live in your holy mountain?
(G) 2 The one who goes about without fault and the one who works out righteousness; the one who speaks truth in his heart.
(G) 3 He who is not unfaithful with his tongue; he who also does not cause evil to his neighbor; and he who did not welcome a disgraceful thing against a person near him.
(G) 4 To be rejected is one who brings about what is evil in his sight, but those who fear Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] he will glorify; the one who makes an agreement with his neighbor and does not later reject it.
(G) 5 He did not give out his money with interest; and bribes against innocent people he has not received. The one doing these things will not be made to tremble on the way into the coming age.”
