Psalm 89:10 Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy strong arm.

Rahab is emblematic of Egypt and Egypt is the place of bondage, pride (Pharoah), sin and death (Isa 51:9). It's where we all dwelt until Christ brought freedom and life to us. But pride had to first be broken.

The process of our freedom will shatter Egypt but only when pride is laid down i.e. when we humble ourselves.

Think of it... first steps in recovery, means we have to first acknowledge there is a problem (sin). Thats humility. Then, steps are taken to correct it (Receiving the Word). The old ways of thinking and acting are broken, destroyest.. to use the language of the psalmist: Rahab is broken in pieces, as one that is slain.

God has to break, slay the Rahab (Egypt), the old ways, the old man, in us and knowledge of his "new and living way" (Heb 10:20) is how he does this. Selah.
