Psalm 89:22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

If the enemy was allowed to "exact" upon us all, NONE would live. For him to "exact" means, he taking what is owed to him with interest. The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23), we all sinned and therefore, he is owed our lives. He has not been able to exercise his power and give us what we worked for... Death. Why? The cross of Christ.

He "exacted" upon Jesus and thus, our debt is cleared. The enemy was not able to exact upon David, in this Psalm, because of Christ. David trusted "the Word of God" and therefore received protection from "the Word" even before he was manifested in flesh.

We to, received protection from Christ before he was manifested in us i.e. when we walked in rebellion to him. The grace, mercy and love he showed while we rejected him is what drew us to him. Now, we, as vessels unto him, must do the same to those yet in rebellion

Romans 2:4 Or do you despise *the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering,* not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
