Psalm 94:4-5 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? [5] They break in pieces thy people, O Lord, and afflict thine heritage.

Psalm 94 begins with a reference to God vengeance. Then jumps into what the wicked are doing. In vengeance, God repays.

In the verses above, the wicked "break in pieces" the people of God. And true to his word, God said he will repay:

Jeremiah 51:19-20 The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the Lord of hosts is his name. [20] Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: *for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms*;

How does God bring this to past? Faith in Christ:
Revelation 2:26-27 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: [27] And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Those who overcome, i.e. those who have faith in Jesus (1 John 5:4), will rule the nations and break them in pieces. But what does this mean? Scripture says in Luke 22:25-26 that *believers rule by serving as Christ did*, which is not the way the world rules.

Christ served in love, thats why he bore the cross. When we bear our cross, crucifying self daily, as we serve others in his love, thats how the nations are broken in pieces, the old bottles are broken, the hard hearts are shattered. And now, in brokenness they can offer an acceptable sacrifice unto God:

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
