Join me live for our next Text Reading from Psalms 34:16-22; 37:3-6, and 40:3-4, according to the Hebrew (H) and Greek (G) texts. Here is my translation of these texts which we will read and discuss:

Chapter 34[33]
(H) 15[16] The eyes of Jaho(h)-ah look in the direction of the righteous ones, and his ears listen to their cry for help.
(G) 16[15] The eyes of Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] are upon the righteous and his ears are toward their cry for help.

(H) 16[17] The face [dignified plural of paneh] of Jaho(h)-ah is among those doing what is bad, to cut their memorials out of the earth.
(G) 17[16] But the face of Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] is against those who do what is bad [or, “who work what is evil”], to completely remove the memory of them from the earth.

(H) 17[18] They have cried out and Jaho(h)-ah has heard them. Then he delivered them from all of their distressing circumstances.
(G) 18[17] The righteous cried out and the Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] heard them, and out of all their tribulation [or, “suffering”] he delivered them.

(H) 18[19] Jaho(h)-ah is near to those with a broken heart [or, “with a broken will”], and those whose spirit has turned to dust [or, “whose spirit is full of sorrow”] he will save.
(G) 19[18] The Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] is near to those with a broken heart [or, “those with a bruised mind”], and those humble [or, “low”] in spirit he will save.

(H) 19[20] Many unpleasant [or, “injurious”] things fall upon the righteous one, but out of them all Jaho(h)-ah will deliver him.
(G) 20[19] Many are the tribulations [or, “sufferings”] of the righteous, and out of them all he will rescue them.

(H) 20[21] He is closely watching all the bones of the righteous one, so that not one of them has been broken.
(G) 21[20] Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] is carefully guarding all of their bones; not one of them will be broken.

(H) 21[22] Evil [or, “What is bad”] will kill the wicked one, and those with hatred for the righteous one will be found guilty.
(G) 22[21] The evil belonging to sin is death and those who disregard [or, “who hate”] the righteous one will be found guilty.

(H) 22[23] Jaho(h)-ah is redeeming the soul [or, “the life”] of his servants, and not one out of all those who seek refuge in him will be found guilty.
(G) 23[22] Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] will redeem the souls of his servants, so that all those hoping in him may not be found guilty.

Chapter 37[36]
(H) 3 You must trust in Jaho(h)-ah and you must do good. Dwell in the earth and make faithfulness your friend.
(G) 3 You must hope in the Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] and you must do what is right and live in the earth and you will be cared for by the earth's abundance.

(H) 4 Be joyful over Jaho(h)-ah and he will give you the good desires of your heart.
(G) 4 You must take pleasure in the Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] and he will give you the good longings of your heart.

(H) 5 You must commit your direction to Jaho(h)-ah and you must trust in him. Then he will act on your behalf.
(G) 5 You must reveal your way to Lord [Jaho(h)-ah] and you must hope in him and he himself will bring it to pass.

(H) 6 He will bring forth your righteousness like he brings forth the light, and he will bring forth righteous judgment for you like he brings forth the mid-daytime.
(G) 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as light, and your judgment like midday.

Chapter 40[39]
(H) 3[4] Then he will put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to God. Many will see, and they will be afraid. But then they will trust in Jaho(h)-ah.
(G) 4[3] Then he threw into my mouth a new song, a hymn to our God. Many will see and be made to fear, and they will hope in Lord [Jaho(h)-ah].

(H) 4[5] Happy is the one who has made Jaho(h)-ah his confidence [or, “his security”]. Happy is the one who has not turned in the direction of those who are unreasonably defiant, or to those who fall victim to the lie.
(G) 5[4] Happy is the man whose hope is the name of Lord [Jaho(h)-ah], and happy is the one who does not even consider vain pursuits and obvious liars [or, “wild liars”].
