In Exodus 21 22-23 there is a law about a man hitting a pregnant woman. This is often brought up in the modern abortion debate. Some claim this passage is about the rights of the unborn fetus in Biblical times. Others claim that a foetus was viewed as having less value than the mother. The passage is tricky because it's not clear what it actually means.
