Since the presidency of JF Rutherford, adherents to the religion of the Watchtower (JW.org) have been officially known as "Jehovah's Witnesses". Although Watchtower founder Charles Taze Russell was vehemently opposed to the taking of a denominational name instead of the name of Christ, Rutherford, in 1931, declared that his followers would henceforth be known as "Jehovah's witnesses", fulfilling Isaiah 43:10 -- '"You are my witnesses", says Jehovah, 'even my servant whom I have chosen'". In the first decades after, JWs were told that the "w" in witnesses should not be capitalized -- to demonstrate that this was NOT a denominational title. Over the past few decades, however, this masquerade has been dropped -- Jehovah's Witnesses is just as much a brand as the even newer "JW.org". All of this history is redundant if Isaiah 43 is NOT referring to Christians at all -- let alone a religion created by 2 businessmen in the 20th century. What is Isaiah 43 really about? And according to Acts 1:8 and Acts 11:26, whose Name would Christians be known by, whose witnesses would they be?
