Locusts can cause immense damage to crops. We are not used to seeing the destruction they leave behind in this part of the world because they primarily affect East African countries, Southwest Asia, and the Middle East. Can you imagine 100 square miles of flying insects numbering anywhere from eight to sixteen trillion locusts swarming together and eating every plant in their path? It’s no wonder the Lord used them as a plague upon Pharaoh when he refused to let Moses take the children of Israel into the wilderness to serve Him.
The Lord will once again use locust-like creatures to bring judgment upon the world. Only this time, as the angel sounds the fifth trumpet, Satan will open the bottomless pit to unleash demonic creatures that will torment mankind for five months. They will come out of the abyss like smoke and fill the sky like an enormous swarm of locusts. John says they are like scorpions with stings in their tails and power to hurt men. Men will want to die, but death will flee from them as they writhe in anguish.
Join us this Sunday as Pastor David continues his study through the book of Revelation. We will look at the first of three woes and see the severity of God’s judgment poured out on an unbelieving world. This study will capture your attention as this passage goes into detail describing these demonic locusts that are unleashed upon anyone who does not have the seal of God on their forehead. This is the fifth trumpet judgment; one woe is past. Behold, two woes are coming after these things.
