This is a detailed description of the life a saved person should live, which opens with this appeal.
KJV - "I beseech you therefore, brethren, “
Romans 2
1Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Bodies - to offer up, or present, your body as a living and holy sacrifice.
When a sacrifice was offered up it was slain. No longer had any other life. In the same way, to the same symbolic extreme, when you trust your very soul to Jesus you're willing to give him everything.
"Holy," - not nominally but really, cleansed from guilt, purified; not just ceremonially, but in reality; not outwardly only, but inwardly.
free from sin. SIN VS TRESSPASS
trespasses are those things you do contrary to God's wishes that are done more or less accidentally, less than intentionally.
You certainly may argue that there's no way you're going to be perfect and you will commit trespasses.
You need to however, avoid sin. Sin is when you know something is contrary to God's will. an immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law.
You can certainly do a better job that currently doing and minimize sin and thus be holy.
"holy sacrifice" - service that costs you something; just may be very inconvenient.
"acceptable to God" - One that is going to judge whether life you are living it is acceptable or not is God.
"spiritual service of worship" - a self-dedication; its service consists in holiness of life, temperance, soberness, and chastity.
"do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind"
- you came to Jesus in trusting faith and not repenting of sins, but once saved, the Holy Spirit wants and enables the renewing of your mind so that you should become one who honors God with a holy life.
"will of God" - that your life reflect the Glory of God
A life that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
