Steve continues his quick verse by verse exposition of Romans in chapters 4 & 5 at the Kona, HI Youth With a Mission on May 8, 2019.

0:12 – 16:45 (cont from the very last 5 minutes of session 4) Does faith do away the Torah (the law)? There are Hebrew Roots people, Jewish Roots people, Seventh Day Adventists, that LOVE to quote the last verse of Romans 3, Romans 3:31, “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.” Well, Paul continued his point by bring the law full circle by what he says in Romans 4! Broken & contrite spirit. David was way ahead of his time w/ broken & contrite spirit, that God wanted something WAY more than ritual law.
(13:53 - 16:23 SIDEBAR: Steve Gregg shares an interesting story here about how he always said the reason God had animal sacrifices happen was to show how gross, how ugly, sin was, BUT someone rightly corrected him who lived on a farm that you actually become immune to such things. I remember ONCE being on a farm when I was 7 years old & the farmer asked if I had ever watched a chicken being butchered. I said no, & they said, it might scare you a little bit, & he proceeded to run behead a chicken & it ran around the yard. It scared me! But I’m sure that after awhile you’d become immune to it!....just like all my hunter relatives!)
16:47 - Circumcision; Being circumcised does not make you more righteous. Abraham had faith before being circumcised. w/ out law, there is no transgression….Paul talks a little more about that in chapter 5 (we are in chapter 4 right here).
23:06 – 28:18 “He considered NOT his own body now dead” Romans 4:19
28:19 – 35:49 Calvinist, being dead.
35:53 – 36:56 being justified by faith
36:57 – 41:46 Romans 5:1-11, living w/ peace being justified
41:47 – 50:55 Boastring/glorying in Christ
50:56 – 55:15 Why do we have to stay here once we have our salvation? No backsliding that way! Certain Adventists I know DO think you lose your salvation EVERY time you sin…hence the sanctuary doctrine! Most will deny that, but some will TELL you that plainly, but that’s essentially what the sanctuary doctrine is all about!
