"Shake the Dust" finishes the story of Paul and Barnabas' missionary journey to Pisidian Antioch, as found in Acts 13:42-52. This is the 12th message from our series, "The Acts of the Apostles: vol. 2."
In Acts 13, we see Paul & Barnabas faithfully follow Jesus & share the Gospel message with others.
When they're face opposition from religious conservatism, political power, and a half-faith of only words but no deeds, they shake it off, and continue to follow in the way of Jesus.
Sometimes following Jesus means shaking the dust off of that which is not of his Gospel & his kingdom.
Paul & Barnabas shook the dust off their feet:
…to the religious leaders
…to those who embraced the politics of privilege & power
…and to those who acknowledged Jesus with their lips, but denied him with their actions
Jesus calls us to shake off the dust of the world: to shake off the dust of anything that gets in the way of responding to his call to deny ourselves, pick up our crosses, & follow him.
