And also King David told his men which were not priests but soldiers to tarry at jericho until their beard was grown back showing you that it is a disrespect to have a shaven beard and be amongst the israelites AS A MAN of israel

2 Samuel 10:5 When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

So not just the priests were not allowed to shave their beards and round the corners of their heads or beards.. nor make any baldness upon their heads

But it was a custom to do so but the priests was not allowed to do so cause they were holy and consecrated (held separate) then the rest of israel, they belonged to Yahawah himself...
