5:13 Sin not counted against you without law.

The law, that all of us are under, is the law of the conscience (Romans 2:14-15; 7:9).

5:14 Death reigned because of our sin nature.

Adam’s sin was that he obeyed his wife (Genesis 3:17), when he should have obeyed God (I Corinthians 11:3).

Even if we do not commit that sin, we are still dead because we are in Adam.

Adam is a figure of Christ because neither one had a sin nature when they were created.

5:15 We have death because it is imputed unto us by Adam, not because we sin ourselves. Similarly, we have life because it is imputed unto us by Christ, not because we operated in life.
