Excel in Persevering -- Thyatira
Revelation 2:18-29

I) Jesus Described V.18
• Eyes blazing fire, feet burnished bronze. See 1:14-15.
II) Faithful Perseverance V.19
• Know deeds (works). Same phrase v.2 (Ephesus).
• Aware of love & service.
• Compliments faith & endurance.
• Works more evident now than at start.
• Are we growing in love, faith, service?
III)Judgment Upon Corruption
• Confrontation: tolerating a “Jezebel” who corrupts.
• 1 Kings 16:30-33, King Ahab marries Jezebel, Baal
worship and Asherah worship.
• “Jezebel” influence in church – sexual misconduct, food
offered to idols. (Acts 15:28-29 forbidden). Similar to
Baalamite & Nicolaitan ways at Ephesus & Pergamum.
• V.21-23 Lord’s discipline to come on her, those with her.
• Today, relaxed views of godly purity, tolerating cultural
influence regarding sex & idolatry distracting us from the
Lord.
• V.24-25 The faithful to persevere, the Lord is coming!
IV) Gift for Those Who Overcome V.26-29
• Those who overcome, given authority over nations.
• Psalm 2:8-9 Identical language, quote.
• “Ruling” is to lead, guide, shepherd.
• Jesus gives disciples authority to minister, Matthew 10.
• V.29, Given morning star – Jesus (Revelation 22:16).
Are you tolerating ways inconsistent with purity as one in
Christ? Repent, walk with Jesus.
Are you away from the Lord, needing to walk with Him?
Repent, confess, ask forgiveness, trust Jesus’ sacrifice, serve
Him. Receive Jesus, excel in persevering in Him.
