NUTSHELL: God had such wildly optimistic promises of blessing for the Jews, they had good reason for wondering if they were hearing right. Their fasts, quite proper considering their long discipline, would soon be turned to feasts. Likewise, our Christian fastings await the coming of Christ for our final transformation and feast. But God asks if we are acting accordingly.

REVIEW: God told them to turn, 1:3. They turned, 1:6. They were ready for the 8 Visions. The Temple
needed a priest’s consecration, but Joshua needed a Temple to consecrate himself! Uh-oh. In 1 night,
God consecrated Joshua TO consecrate the Temple. But a Temple doesn’t guarantee true worship. Enter the rest of the book.
