Don't let your sins fester in the dark. There you go, that's the whole point of the sermon from Imprint Church in Woodinville this week! Read on if you want to learn a little bit more.
In this series titled "Fundamentals", we are looking at the picture that Jesus' friend John paints of the Messiah. We can learn a lot from one of Jesus' closest friends through this book in the bible.

1 John 1:5-2:2 deals with the issue of sin. John starts with the nature of God, which is light. By nature He is light, which means He's revealed Himself and He's completely holy. That's awesome!

In your faith journey, it is essential to start with a God like this. He's completely set apart from us. He's doesn't need us to give him characteristics. We didn't create Him. He's uncreated and exists like light - perfect and righteous and holy.

Here's where this gets really important: Because honestly, if we don't know the holiness of God... then the plan of redemption, the whole purpose of salvation, becomes meaningless and we can see no point in one of the central doctrines of the Christian faith: propitiation. This is what makes us Christians. So to understand Christianity we need a clear understanding of the nature and character of God.
