ORDER OF WORSHIP – 04/05/2020

Call to Worship – Psalm 118:1, 4, 22-24, 29, 27
“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! . . . Let those who fear the LORD say, ‘His steadfast love endures forever.’”
“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it . . . give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! The LORD is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us.

Prayer of Adoration and Lord’s Prayer

Call to Repentance – Psalm 118:5-7
“Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me free. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The LORD is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.”

Prayer of Confession
O Lord, we have not longed for Your coming and Your kingdom as we ought. We have not denied ourselves, taken up the cross and followed You. Instead, clinging to the things of this world and counting them dear, we have grown callous to the needs of the poor and downtrodden, the lonely and the suffering. Nor have we cared about those who are without Christ and without hope in this world. We have been silent when we could have spoken, though You have warned us saying, “If anyone is ashamed of Me, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory.” Lord, forgive us for our offenses. And grant that by the power of Your Spirit we might live in light of Your coming again. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon – Ps 118:8-9; Psalm 36:7-9
“It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.”
“How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light.”
