Week 3 of "disciple-what? What we mean when we talk about discipleship."
The COST of Love
"This is how we know what Love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us" (1John 3:16)

•The COST of Love (1 John 3:16; 4:9-10).
"This is how we know what Love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us"
(1John 3:16)

•The MOTIVATION of Love (1 John 4:19).
“We love because Christ first loved us” (1 John 4:19).

•The SOURCE of Love (1 John 4:7-8, 12-16, 20).
“Dear friends, let’s love each other, because love is from God, and everyone who loves is born from God and knows God. The person who doesn’t love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:7-8)

•The ACTION of Love (1 John 3:17-18; James 2:14-26).
“If a person has material possessions and sees a brother or a sister in need and that person doesn’t care – how can the love of God remain in him? (1 John 3:17).
What good is it if people say they have faith but do nothing to show it? Imagine a brother or sister who is naked and never has enough food to eat. What if one of you said, ‘Go in peace! Stay warm! Have a nice meal? What good is it if you don’t actually give them what their body needs? In the same way, faith is dead when it doesn’t result in faithful activity’ (James 2:14-17).
