A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, Thursday evening Sept 23rd 1875. This is essentially a sermon about chastening. It shows us that, if God only forgave us, it might be dangerous for us. Like king David, we need sanctification and personal holiness also.
How wonderful it would be if our inner regard and respect of God's ways were enough to correct us, without chastening. Sadly, too often prosperity and rest allow our corruptions to take hold of us.
