What does Paul teach in regard to women at the end of 1 Timothy 2? Is his teaching rooted in creation order? Is his prohibition on women and authority about women holding positions in the church...something situational in Ephesus or something else? John Mark Hicks gives three problems a soft complimentarian interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:8-15. This video dives into defining soft complimentarianism based on 1 Timothy 2. There are two broad views on women's roles in the assembly and ministry: egalitarianism says there are no restrictions on women. Complementarianism says there are restrictions placed on women. Soft complementarianism still places restrictions but fewer restrictions than is often traditionally accepted. 1 Timothy 2 proves to be one of Paul's difficult text and one that has created a lot of disagreement and division. This video explores issues in a soft complementarian take on 1 Timothy 2 to consider as you read and study this passage.
