Peter wrote 1 Peter 3:7 to Husbands telling them to honor their wives, be understanding of them, acknowledge that they are joint heirs with you and to treat them as the weaker vessel. This is not meant to demean or devalue women. You can view this in the analogy of men as tupperware and women as fine china. Women are actually more valuable and should be treated as such (Proverbs 31:10). Men should esteem their wives higher than their selves (Philippians 2:3). They should love them, honor them, be understanding of them, and cover them with the Word of God (Ephesians 5:23-29).
