Waited I Patiently (Psalm 40:1-8)

Waited I for the Lord so patiently, patiently,
and my cry unto Him He heard compassionately.
From the pit of destruction He did bring, bring me up;
from the mire of the clay He lifted me, lifted up.

On a rock He did set my feet and make my steps sure;
in my mouth a new song of praise He put that's pure.
Many are they who shall see what for me He has done,
and for this will their faith put in His Son.

Truly blessed is the man who makes the Lord God his trust,
and has not to the proud or to the false had regard.
For the Lord has poured out His loving thoughts toward us,
and the wonders which He has done are many by far.

If I tried to declare and speak of each one of them,
I could not, for too numerous are they to count.
Yet my lips I will not restrain, O Lord, this You know.
Your glad tidings I shall fore'er recount.

Sacrifice and meal offerings have not been Your desire,
nor have offerings for sin been the main thing You required.
But a heart that delights to do Your will, O my Lord,
is more pleasing to You than offerings burnt in the fire.

So my ears You have opened to hear in Your whole book
all the things that are written of Your plan for me.
I have come, Lord, behold, as it is written in there,
for Your law is within the heart of me.

Psalm 40:1-8 NASB
[1] I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. [2] He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. [3] He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD.

[4] How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, and has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood. [5] Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; there is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count.

[6] Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; my ears You have opened; burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. [7] Then I said, "Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me." [8] I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart.
