This sermon reviews the all importance God places on the purity of our hearts and recognizing what really defiles a man in God's eyes. In the introduction Chad goes through the book of Deuteronomy looking at many of the places where God commands Israel through Moses to seek Him and to obey Him with ALL THEIR HEART. The main points of the sermon are drawn from Matthew 15:10-20 and Mark 7:14-23 where Jesus continues his confrontation of the hypocrisy of the Pharisees for placing legalistic traditions and ceremonial worship over and above loving/worshiping God from a pure heart.

1. The importance of the heart (why Jesus called the crowd and said "hear and understand").
2. The defilement of the heart (what corrupts a man in God's eyes is not unclean food that one eats, but is a matter of the heart and what one thinks, speaks, and acts).
3. The need for a converted heart (sincere/clean hearts are planted by the Father and never uprooted).
4. The understanding heart (the true disciples inquired of Jesus because they wanted to understand the parable/truths of God's Word).
5. The freedom of the heart (Jesus declared all foods clean - read Acts 10:9-16, Colossians 2:20-23, Romans 14, 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, 1 Corinthians 8:1-13, 1 Timothy 4:1-5, and Titus 1:10-16).

Pastor Chad concludes the sermon with a call to watch/guard one's heart at all costs, with all vigilance, and with all holiness (Proverbs 4:23-27).
